Otaakrom ICCES
Water Project
Challenge
Teachers and students at Otaakrom ICCES had no easy access to water. They would have to walk into the local village to fetch water for both drinking and washing.
Solution
Onechild Ghana funded the installation of a water system at the centre so that students could have easy access to running water. Staff worked with students to build the water system themselves, helping to develop valuable vocational skills.
Impact
The project has brought many immediate benefits:
- It has solved the acute water shortage at the school
- Students and staff can now get a drink of water by just turning on a tap
- Students spend more time at school as they don’t have to take time out to fetch water
