Challenge
The number of students enrolled at the schools Onechild Ghana supports has significantly increased – rising from 1,000 in 2021 to 4,000 in 2025. Students are desperate to get an education yet this has created a number of challenges. One of these challenges is that there simply aren’t enough desks for students to sit at. This has led to cramped and crowded classroom conditions – making it very difficult for students to study.
Solution
Working with a number of partners, Onechild Ghana has supplied hundreds of desks across the schools we support to address this challenge.
Impact
The desks have had an immediate impact. They’ve enhanced the learning environment, enabling students to be less distracted by their peers and now able to work in their own space. The desks have also helped students boost their self- esteem and belief in their own abilities. Teaching has also improved – with teachers now able to better manage the classroom.
